Hsin Lee unveils "Core," a kinetic light sculpture inspired by the historical Kawabata Intcraft
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hsin Lee presents "Core," a kinetic light sculpture inspired by the preservation of the 84-year-old Japanese-style police office, Kawabata Intcraft. The sculpture, resembling a pine cone, symbolizes eternity and breathes life into the building through its dynamic movement and light. Crafted with 87 brass pieces, the sculpture's intricate mechanism creates a mesmerizing breathing effect, transforming the space into a living body.
Utilizing a reciprocating grooved drum mechanism, "Core" showcases the fusion of art, sustainability, and craftsmanship. The sculpture's regular opening and closing, accompanied by projected light, creates an immersive experience for viewers, enriching their interaction with the artwork.
Completed in January 2021, "Core" stands as a permanent exhibit at Kawabata Intcraft, offering a captivating visual and sensory experience for visitors. Lee's exceptional design was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its innovative and creative contribution to the world of art and technology.
