FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responsive Spaces proudly presents Steel City, a revolutionary interactive installation showcased at METEC 2019 in Duesseldorf, Germany. The project aims to merge the necessity of visualizing complex processes with an intuitive haptic interface, delivering expert knowledge while acting as a visual highlight of the stand. The installation offers a magical experience with top-notch user interaction, effortlessly conveying expertise to all visitors.
The operation of Steel City is driven by a unique rotary knob, providing haptic feedback through a magnetized liquid, adapting in real-time to selected content. Over 200 semi-transparent acrylic 3D-models of a modern steel plant are displayed on a 24 sqm LED wall, creating a mesmerizing visual experience. The terminals around Steel City are designed for a haptic and intuitive user experience, offering an additional perspective through special reflective material.
Steel City's technical specifications include over 200 acrylic 3D-models positioned on a 6.5 x 4.5 meter LED wall, accompanied by 4 interactive terminals featuring rotational knobs with haptic feedback. The entire installation spans 8m x 5m x 5.5m, with the LED wall raised 60cm from the floor to house the necessary hardware.
By selecting one of 12 scenarios at the terminals, users can trigger animated sequences on the LED wall, visualizing the processes and workflows of a steel plant in a captivating display of light and color. The installation seamlessly blends stories while offering in-depth details to individual users, providing an immersive and informative experience.
Responsive Spaces' Steel City project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interface, Interaction, and User Experience Design in 2020, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence.
