Bake Sans: Typeface Inspired by Swiss-Type Design

Bake Sans is a contemporary typeface that exudes style and personality, meticulously crafted with modern and distinctive shapes, curves, and idiosyncrasies. It offers the perfect visual consistency for branding and communication projects through experimental forms.

The typeface was created using Glyphs to develop the font family, and a limited run of the type specimen book was printed in offset digital, 4 colors. The specimen dimensions are 210 x 290 mm.

The project began in June 2023 and was completed in September 2023. The design team, led by Paul Robb and Moira Bartoloni, overcame the challenge of creating a modern Sans-serif based on traditional forms and adapting them to create a new visual language.

Paul Robb, a Creative Director and Type designer with over 30 years of experience, is the mind behind Bake Sans. He is a Professor of Graphic design at the University of Perugia and a Professor on the MA Brand design course of the Academia of Perugia. Since 2000, he has been the Creative Director for Salt&Pepper, an award-winning multidisciplinary contemporary graphic design studio focused on transforming brands and businesses. In 2020, he started S6 Foundry, an independent contemporary digital type foundry crafting retail typefaces for use in digital and print applications.
