FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fantasy Illustration for EyeNet Journal Cover

Cynthia Turner's "Ophthalmic Sustainability" is a fantastical depiction of a lush botanical environment flourishing around an heroic eye, aiming to symbolize the greening of ophthalmology. The illustration, created using Cinema 4D and hand-painting in Photoshop, will be featured on the cover and inside lead article of EyeNet, the journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology for the November 2023 Issue.

The artist sought to create a fantasy illustration depicting a lush, fresh and burgeoning botanical environment flourishing around an heroic eye. The eye itself is fantastical, with a conjunctiva made of Michelangelo's white dolomite marble, contrasting with the glowing iris. This unique artwork aims to uplift and inspire while conveying the message of sustainability in ophthalmology.

Turner's work focuses on the visual needs of the pharmaceutical and biotech research industry, and she is a certified medical illustrator and a Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators. Her exceptional contributions to the field have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award for her extraordinary lifelong contributions to the advancements of medical illustration and scientific knowledge.
