The V House: A LEED Gold-Certified, Net-Zero Energy Luxury Residence in Athens

The V House, designed by Vassilis Siafaricas, represents a transformative vision for sustainable luxury homes in Greece. Located in Athens and scheduled for completion in May 2025, this innovative residence is set to become one of the country's first LEED Gold-certified homes. The project, also known as "Boomerang," is the result of a comprehensive retrofit of an existing structure, blending cutting-edge architecture with advanced green technologies to minimize environmental impact while maximizing comfort and elegance.

At the heart of The V House is a commitment to net-zero energy use, achieved through the integration of photovoltaic panels, high-performance insulation, triple-glazed windows, and a suite of smart home systems powered by KNX automation. The residence spans 425 square meters across four levels, featuring an eco-friendly rooftop pool heated by a sustainable heat pump. Biophilic design principles are evident throughout, with open spaces, natural materials, and abundant daylight fostering a seamless connection between the indoors and the surrounding environment.

The project's realization involved extensive research and the application of parametric modeling, energy simulations, and LEED-certified strategies. Overcoming the challenge of retrofitting an older property, the design team balanced architectural integrity with the latest in energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials.
