Ying Han's "Every Perfect Day" project has received the Iron A' Packaging Design Award 2025, recognizing its innovative approach to tea packaging for Bigelow Tea. The project, completed in the USA over ten months, redefines traditional tea packaging by combining abstract ingredient-inspired patterns, refined typography, and a modular structure that enhances both individuality and unity among flavors. The design stands out for its ability to celebrate each tea's unique character while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
The centerpiece of the redesign is a system of triangular boxes, each representing a different tea flavor. These boxes interlock seamlessly to form a striking hexagonal display, creating a visually compelling shelf presence and inviting user interaction. The bold use of gradients and clear functional labeling ensures that each tea's benefits are easily identifiable, while the modular structure encourages consumers to engage with the product in new ways. This approach not only elevates the tea-drinking experience but also strengthens the emotional connection between consumers and the brand.
The development process involved extensive user-centered research, including consumer surveys, competitor analysis, and iterative prototyping using both hand-cut and laser-cut techniques. Insights from these studies informed the final design, balancing visual storytelling with practical innovation. The project overcame significant challenges in achieving both distinctiveness and unity, as well as technical hurdles in dieline precision and material selection. The result is a packaging solution that meets contemporary consumer expectations and sets a new standard for modularity and branding in the tea industry.
