Peyman Hashemi's Ryucan oil container, inspired by Samurai armor and crafted from 90% recycled plastic, has been honored with the Bronze A' Packaging Design Award 2025 for its breakthrough in eco-friendly, high-performance industrial packaging, officially debuting at ICIS 2025 London.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ryucan, designed by Peyman Hashemi with co-designer Kayhan Turan, has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Packaging Design Award 2025, highlighting its innovative approach to sustainable packaging. Developed in Istanbul over the course of 2023, Ryucan draws inspiration from the layered structure of Samurai armor, symbolizing strength and resilience. The design process integrated advanced engineering and aesthetic principles to create a container that is both visually distinctive and highly functional.
Manufactured using state-of-the-art blow molding technology and made from 90% recycled high-density polyethylene, Ryucan achieves a 20% weight reduction compared to standard containers without compromising durability. The container's angular, layered surface not only enhances its structural integrity but also eliminates the need for adhesive labels, thanks to its embossed branding. This innovation improves recyclability and reduces microplastic waste, aligning with growing environmental demands in industrial packaging.
Ryucan's ergonomic grip ensures comfortable handling and precise pouring, while its reinforced body surpasses industry drop-test standards, withstanding drops from 2.2 meters and pressures up to 131.4 kilograms at 50°C. The container's optimized shape allows for efficient stacking, reducing storage and transport costs. Its debut at ICIS 2025 London marks a significant step forward in eco-friendly packaging, setting a new benchmark for strength, efficiency, and sustainability in the industry.
