Chongqing Noodles Mural: A Fusion of Culinary Heritage and Urban Artistry by Wu Yao

The "Chongqing Noodles" mural, designed by Wu Yao and a talented team of illustrators and graphic designers, brings the vibrant spirit of Sichuan and Chongqing to life in Encounter Small Noodles stores across China. Drawing inspiration from Dutch paintings like "Paradise on Earth" and "Tower of Heaven," the mural skillfully blends intricate cityscapes, iconic cuisine, and cultural landmarks unique to the region. The project began in Beijing in October 2024 and concluded in December 2024, resulting in a visually stunning centerpiece that immerses diners in the rich heritage of Chengdu and Chongqing.

This themed mural stands out for its detailed storytelling and innovative integration of local food culture with urban characteristics. The artwork features a cool color palette designed to contrast with the stores' warm lighting, immediately capturing customers' attention. Not only does it showcase the bustling city life and picturesque natural scenery of Sichuan and Chongqing, but it also incorporates playful elements like the "Small Noodles Master" character, enhancing brand recognition and inviting customers to explore the mural's many layers.

Produced using heat transfer printing technology, the mural is available in various sizes to suit different store layouts, ensuring a consistent and immersive brand experience nationwide. Extensive research went into highlighting the unique aspects of the region, from architectural marvels to culinary traditions, overcoming the challenge of presenting a vast amount of information in a cohesive and engaging way. The mural has already garnered significant acclaim, earning the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2025 for its outstanding creativity, technical excellence, and ability to evoke wonder.
