Seoul-based designer Suryun Hyeon has been honored with the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for 'Flow,' an innovative ideation tool that breaks away from the linear structure of traditional note-taking apps, enabling users to capture and connect ideas in a way that mirrors natural human thought.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
'Flow' is a groundbreaking ideation tool developed by Suryun Hyeon in Seoul between December 2024 and January 2025, designed to address the limitations of conventional note-taking applications. Unlike traditional tools that force ideas into rigid, chronological formats, Flow allows users to freely jot down thoughts as keywords, sentences, or even drawings. By pressing the 'flow' button, related ideas are seamlessly connected, creating a dynamic network that reflects the scattered and divergent nature of real ideation.
The tool's unique interface arranges intentionally developed ideas vertically, while connections made using the 'flow' button are linked horizontally. This structure enables user-generated ideas, online references, and AI-assisted suggestions to organically interconnect, supporting both structured and spontaneous creativity. Flow's responsive design ensures compatibility across mobile, desktop, and tablet devices, and its AI-driven features automatically organize relevant ideas and provide diverse suggestions, further enhancing the ideation process.
Flow's development was informed by in-depth interviews with students and designers, who expressed frustration with existing tools that hinder free-flowing ideation. By translating these insights into a visually intuitive and interactive platform, Suryun Hyeon has created a solution that empowers users to think more naturally and creatively. The project's innovative approach and practical impact were recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interface, Interaction, and User Experience category for 2025, highlighting its contribution to advancing creative workflows across industries.
