Cristaderm, a pioneering Korean skincare brand designed by Wai Ho Cheung, has been honored with the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for its groundbreaking brand identity, which seamlessly blends scientific innovation with sophisticated visual elements, setting a new benchmark in the skincare industry.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cristaderm's brand identity, conceptualized by Wai Ho Cheung, stands out for its unique integration of scientific principles and cultural motifs. Drawing inspiration from the double helix structure of DNA, the design incorporates antiparallel chains and precise base pairing, reflecting the brand's commitment to scientific rigor. The visual language is further enriched by merging chemical molecular formulae with the structure of Korean characters, resulting in a striking icon system that embodies both innovation and cultural depth.
The logo features a clean, powerful font paired with a planar parallelogram motif inspired by plant exosomes and DNA structures, symbolizing precision and the integration of biological science into skincare. This motif is carried through to the brand's packaging, name cards, and booth designs, ensuring a cohesive and sophisticated visual experience. The vibrant color palette is derived from the 21 plant exosomes used in Cristaderm's formulations, underscoring the brand's dedication to scientific advancement and the natural world.
Developed between July and September 2021 in Seoul and Hong Kong, Cristaderm's design process was driven by extensive research into skin physiology and the use of plant exosomes as a core ingredient. The main challenge was to balance visual appeal with scientific credibility, resulting in a brand identity that is both aesthetically compelling and functionally effective. This achievement has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award 2025, highlighting Cristaderm's role as a leader in merging art and science within the skincare sector.
