The 2023 Hua Chenyu Mars Concert, held in Hangzhou, marked a decade of the artist's musical journey with a stage design that set new benchmarks in the performing arts industry. Conceived by Peng Guo and his team, the design was inspired by the "Martian Coordinate System," a concept that not only symbolized a physical space but also encapsulated the shared time and emotions between Hua Chenyu and his fans. This innovative approach transformed the concert into a multidimensional celebration of music, memory, and connection.
At the heart of the design was a colossal four-sided stage structure, measuring 47.5 meters in length, 27.5 meters in width, and 22 meters in height, with a total hanging weight exceeding 200 tons. This feat, unprecedented in Asia, was achieved through meticulous engineering and creative vision. The stage featured 10 custom-made lighting fixtures in a unique "6 horizontal, 4 vertical" configuration, as well as 12 adjustable lighting columns representing each month of the year. These dynamic elements, along with sequentially arranged luminous panels and mirror-like devices, created a living coordinate system that visually documented the concert's decade-long narrative.
The design's technical sophistication was matched by its artistic ambition. Numerical control technology enabled the seamless operation of lighting and stage elements, allowing for dynamic transitions that mirrored the evolution of Hua Chenyu's music. The stage's transparent yet robust structure balanced safety with aesthetic impact, while the integration of PGM screens and live performances transformed the space into a "motherboard" powered by music. Overcoming significant structural and creative challenges, Peng Guo's team delivered a visually and emotionally immersive experience that captivated audiences and set a new standard for live event design.
