Award-Winning "The Dance of Nature" Wine Packaging Showcases Artistic Sustainability and Latin American Inspiration

Ximena Ureta's "The Dance of Nature" is a striking collection of wine labels that merges artistry, sustainability, and cultural storytelling. Developed as a sample for Fedrigoni, a leader in self-adhesive papers, the project features four distinct designs, each representing a different Latin American landscape and time of day-blue hour for merlot, golden hour for malbec, and a vibrant blend for mixed varietals. The labels were first introduced in January 2023 in Chile and have since been showcased internationally, capturing the attention of vineyards, wineries, and packaging designers.

What sets "The Dance of Nature" apart is its commitment to environmental responsibility and creative innovation. The labels are printed on Tintoretto Gesso Recycled paper, made from 100% recycled fibers and certified by the FSC for responsible sourcing. Ureta's process involved using natural pigments extracted from plants such as bougainvillea, coffee, beetroot, curry, and spinach, applied with handmade brushes crafted from organic materials like bark and dry leaves. The result is a harmonious visual narrative that celebrates the interconnectedness of living and non-living elements in nature, while demonstrating the technical and aesthetic potential of recycled papers.

The production utilized advanced printing technology, including HP Indigo digital presses with hexachrome colors and finishing touches like gold and pearlized foils, die-cutting, embossing, and semi-gloss UV varnish. Each label is designed for Bordeaux bottles, measuring 12.5 by 12.5 cm, and reflects a unique, hand-painted typography. This project not only exemplifies best practices in sustainable design but also highlights Ureta's ability to evoke emotion and connection through her work, earning her the prestigious Iron A' Packaging Design Award for 2024.
