Heijie He's "Su Jiu Dong Po" baijiu packaging project has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Packaging Design Award for 2025, celebrating its innovative approach to cultural storytelling through product design. Developed in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, between May 2024 and January 2025, the collection features four distinct bottles, each representing a pivotal stage in the life of renowned poet Su Shi. Drawing inspiration from the theatrical production "Su Jiu Dong Po," the design harmoniously integrates poetry, painting, and craftsmanship, encapsulating the spirit of Dongpo both within and outside the bottle.
The bottles are crafted from a glass-crystalline white material and modeled after the elegant meiping plum vase style, echoing the refined aesthetics of Song dynasty porcelain. Each vessel is adorned with intricate relief carvings that transition from detailed to sparse, symbolizing the dynamic flow of a river and providing a unique tactile experience. The visual language on each bottle is closely tied to Su Shi's poetry, employing a blend of traditional ink techniques and modern design to transform literary imagery into immersive, translucent art. This approach allows users to connect with the narrative of Su Shi's life, savor the liquor, and appreciate the poetic and artistic ambiance in a multi-dimensional way.
